I started my natural hair journey back in 2009 as part of my decision to eliminate as many man-made products and chemicals as possible.
I use the following products as part of my hair care regimen:
- Shea Moisture Organic African Black Soap Shampoo Deep Cleansing Shampoo
- Shea Moisture Organic African Black Soap Balancing Conditioner
- Kinky-Curly Knot Today Leave In Detangler
- My own shea butter whip
I created a rosemary moisture spray to use daily and I used to use the Jamaican Black castor oil. However, the castor oil would cause my head to itch and it was too heavy for my hair. Therefore, I decided to switch to the Jamaican Coconut Black Castor Oil and my hair loves it. It helps my hair remain soft to the touch and moisturized and is just the right weight for my hair. The brand I use is Tropic Isle Living.
When I want to do a deep conditioning treatment, I start with an oil treatment using the Strong Roots Red Pimento Hair Growth Oil prior to washing my hair. The first time I used this product, I made the mistake of using it the same way I use the other oil. What a mistake that was! The next day my head was itching like crazy. Then I read the instructions and realized I was supposed to only leave it in for a few minutes prior to shampooing (I know, I should not have assumed). Needless to say, I rinsed it out and washed my hair and my scalp was immediately revived. This product definitely gets the blood circulating. But whatever you do, do not use it as a leave-in.
Shea Moisture and Kinky Curly products can be found in Target. However, if you are looking to purchase the Tropical Isle Living products, those can be purchased at www.sams247.com.
For those interested in making their own Rosemary moisture spray, I will share this recipe in my next post so stay tuned. Tropical Isle Living also has several other products. I do want to try the Lavender Jamaican Black Castor Oil as well. I will probably try it once I am out and need more product. Lavender has such a pleasant scent.
